Overview
We are seeking an analytical and systems orientated Logistics Manager to lead U.S. warehouse operations, transportation, and Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) implementation. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to plan and integrate a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and transportation management system (TMS) into our ERP and the ability to achieve defined performance goals. Additionally, this role will optimize the U.S. transportation operation and distribution strategy focused on cost control/optimization, superior customer service and execution excellence. This role also partners with Canadian and Latin American supply chain teams, as needed.
This position is based at our global Headquarters in San Diego.
What You’ll Be Doing
Responsibilities:
- Lead U.S. warehouse operations, transportation, and trade compliance to include systems infrastructure such as the Enterprise Resource Management (ERP), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and integration with the Transportation Management System (TMS) to achieve Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) and defined performance goals.
- Provide input and guidance to Canada and Mexico’s warehouse and transportation plans and strategies.
- Liaise with Asia, Pacific and European regions for best practices sharing and organizational alignment.
- Responsible for the budgetary ownership for logistics and operational cost, expenses and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance. Manage third-party logistics (3PL) providers to collaborate and ensure strategic business synergies.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and must win battles for business growth, productivity optimization, and innovations in service, quality, and cost.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial), Business Administration, or related field.
- 7 years of progressive experience in the job offered (defined as logistics management).
- Employer will accept a Master’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial), Business Administration, or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered (defined as logistics management) in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 7 years of progressive experience.
- Work experience to include: (1) 7 years of experience (or 5 years of experience with a Master’s degree) with change management, project management, strategic business partnership management, statistical analytics and process orientation. (2) Leading, designing, executing, and overseeing a Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Transportation Management Systems (TMS) with an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) including system experience with at least one of the following in a digital environment: integrated Wi-Fi; radio frequency or equipment for receiving, put away, inventory control, or picking. (3) Leading service improvement programs for consumer-packaged goods customers, including retail, grocery, and hardware automotive and establishing performance metrics. (4) Collaborating with sales and customers related to national consumer product good retailers, including The Home Depot and Lowes. (5) Leading negotiations with Third-Party Logistics Providers of cost drivers for at least two of the following services: warehousing, Truck Load (TL), Less than Truck Load (LTL), Small Parcel, Global Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage, or Intermodal (IML) freight. (6) Accounting and finance processes and practices pertaining to cost, audit, inventory valuation and working with at least one publicly traded company complying with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements. (7) Working with domestic and international shipments, freight and global trade compliance, including Free Trade Agreements per country, terms, documentation, audit and cost. (8) Working in a regulatory environment related to hazardous materials regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) as it applies to consumer goods product. (9) Creating, initiating, and completing Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Statement of Work (SOW) structure, processes and workflow sufficient to develop and improve upon existing processes. (10) Simulating cost and price analyses and development of should be cost models and creating methodology and analytics using data mining, data management, data storage, and presentation of the business case. (11) Utilizing Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access to analyze data by creating pivot tables, vlookup functionality, graphs and charts, and outputting a dashboard of findings with a business case. (12) Developing internal stakeholder relationships cross-functionally and external business partnerships with third-party logistics providers.
- Applicants for the position must have one of the following certifications: PMP Certification, Lean Six Sigma Certification, or APICS/ASCM Certification (CPIM, CSCP).
- Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
- Position requires 50% travel (35% domestic, 15% international). Travel expenses paid by employer.
- All applicants who meet the minimum requirements for the position must pass a standardized candidate assessment test in order to qualify for the position.
