Overview
This position is responsible for independent development and maintenance of critical global reporting solutions to include data warehouse, ETL processes and BI applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on translating high level, abstract reporting requests/ideas into specific technical reporting requirements to produce well-constructed and actional reports for leadership analysis and planning. This role requires the ability to work on multiple development projects at one time while consistently delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced and team orientated environment.
We are looking for a bright, creative, self-starter with impeccable attention to detail to join our team. This position reports to the BI and Database Manager. This position can be located anywhere in the US, ideally in San Diego or Kansas City.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and deploy solutions that support business requirements using approved toolset and infrastructure.
- Architect and maintain SQL databases, including scripts and procedures, to support reporting solutions, data warehouse, and designated applications.
- Responsible for administration of designated applications, including routine and non-routine maintenance.
- Create and manage ETL processes to automate and support integration between applications, including Business Intelligence and reporting solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Business Intelligence and reporting solutions to provide timely and accurate integration of data.
- Create visualizations, dashboards, and reports for business reporting purposes.
- Design and develop metadata models and OLAP cubes to support report development and analysis.
- Provide escalated support as needed to ensure the desired level of functionality and end-user experience.
- Responsible for understanding how designated applications interface and support other existing business systems.
- Proactively identify issues related to Business Intelligence and Database performance and provide corrective measures.
- Implement and maintain security and compliance (regulatory, licensing, SOX, etc.) within solutions required for this position.
- Perform SQL Server and Business Intelligence software upgrades, service packs, and versions, including testing and evaluation.
- Ensure Business Intelligence and Database programs and applications meet company and performance requirements.
- Research and recommend new database and Business Intelligence solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers and teams to translate business needs to technical specifications.
- Develop and update technical documentation.
- Create visualizations and reports for requested projects.
- Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting.
- Develop a training program and documentation materials to support business intelligence user adoption.
- Recommend improvements in processes, methods, tools, and resourcing to sustain high-quality outcomes, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies and accuracy.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
What You Will Bring to the Role
Along with strong communication skills, the ideal person for this role will have:
- 5+ years IT experience in a similar role.
- 4+ years of experience managing and developing databases, preferably SQL Server 2016.
- 3+ years developing Business Intelligence solutions, monitoring and troubleshooting databases and BI application performance, data warehousing, building cubes, ETL processes and solutions, database integration, and developing reports.
- Knowledge/experience with Business Intelligence Applications (i.e. MS Power BI, Cognos)
- Professional experience working with SSMS, SSIS, and SSRS.
- Azure Synapse and/or SnapLogic experience, a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree highly desirable; current technical certification(s), preferred, in particular, MSSQL Database Administration and MSSQL Database Development.
