Overview
We are looking for a skilled Credit and Collection Specialist to contact clients and collect outstanding payments. In this role, you will strike a balance between maintaining trustful relationships, and ensuring timely payments.You will analyze financial data to assess the likelihood of a borrower honouring their financial obligations.
Our Credit and Collection Specialist should exhibit professionalism and trustworthiness. You should have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to work independently.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Reviews and approves new credit application within predetermined guidelines.
- Performs routine credit review and reviews credit reports.
- Identifies and communicates all credit application reviews outside of guidelines requiring independent approval discretion.
- Creates and maintains credit records, files, and documentation.
- Creates accurately and timely new customer account into the ERP.
- Releases orders pending due to credit hold when risk is appropriate and as per guidelines.
- Compiles, generates, and distributes weekly and monthly reports as well as other adhoc analyses requested by Supervisor.
- Monitors and performs collections for delinquent customer accounts. Acts as company representative to perform collections on accounts up to 90 days past due.
- Verifies disputed charges and process routine debit or credit adjustments within guidelines of position.
- Responsible for timely printing, mailing or distribution of monthly customer account statements.
- Generates and distributes weekly and monthly reports relative to collection status progress towards objectives and other important/material information.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- 5+ years’ experience with collections processing and systems.
- 5+ years’ experience in A/R, credit, and/or collections.
- 5+ years of direct experience or 1-2 years relative experience and a college degree in business, accounting, finance or its equivalent.
- Experience with DNB.
- Experience with A/R of retail, automotive, institutional, grocery, and industrial customers of a consumer goods company, desirable.
