WD-40 Company has an opening for an undergraduate level service desk support technician fall/winter paid internship within our I.T. team. The successful candidate will be solution oriented and customer focused to help support end-users throughout the U.S.
This highly interactive support position will assist with troubleshooting, repairing, building, and configuring hardware and software on end-user computer workstations, mobile devices, and peripherals.

What You’ll Be Doing
Service Desk Support Intern Primary Areas of Responsibility
- Acts as resource for end-user technical IT support requests as well as identifies, researches, and resolves information system-related problems.
- Supports troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software problems on end-user computer workstations, peripherals, Cisco phones, etc.
- Assists with builds, configuring and installing laptops, desktop, and other devices.
- Supports analytical, technical, and administrative activities in the installation of new and/or expansion of existing systems.
- Assists with installs, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on any associated hardware, operating systems, and application software and data-communication equipment.
- Builds and maintains a knowledge base of problem resolutions, troubleshooting techniques, and recurring issues for use by the IT staff.
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and ascertain problem or reason for requesting assistance
- Identifies and assesses customers’ needs to achieve satisfaction
- Maintain open communication with the customer and provide constant ticket updates.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
Qualifications
- Completion of high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Must be actively enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at an accredited university with a related information technology major. At least 2 years of completed coursework is preferred.
- Basic understanding of the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of a wide variety of Desktop PC's, laptops, and peripherals printers / multifunction copiers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office
- Customer service drive with outstanding communication and active listening skills
